I've got the PDC early release and it's very good on my laptop show's where MS are going, it's going to be the same story as XP and Windows 2000, get with the way of doing thing the Vista way or you will not get anything other than a polite request to try the latest version if you call support with anything tricky, the same way some people kept running NT for years but their users all asked for XP and not 2000. Windows 7 will be the polished version of Vista that users are asking for and built on the same solid engineering that Vista has brought to the table and it'll be interesting to see if people take advantage of the great hardware which blows the rocks of me. Jan recently ordered a new laptop a M1330 which had the option to come with 8Gb of memory (she got the default with 4Gb) because that is the way the world is going full stop. If you got 64 bit processors which are capable of using the extra memory then someone will use it to the full amount of the capability. We did not go with the offer but are holding it in reserve for when she upgrades to Windows 7 and we go full 64 bit on it. If your working at a company who you knows is only supporting XP then you might want to mention to them that Windows 7 is in beta and will be out next year, if your company only supports Windows 2000 then my commissions and if you can move you might want to consider it because the company has big problem and are presumably locked into an old application.
Sorry it has taken so long and I hope you are still there because I'm back to see what of you guys are left and to tell you a tale about my injury and having no passwords stored away if you forget them and no clear hand over plan to others - no one is above injury and if you do not trust someone it's time to find that cave and hunker down in cover to wait for the end of the world.
